Progress Renovations Mongui Maduro Museum
Renovations of plantation house Rooi Catootje was succesfully concluded last Friday 11 September. An enormous amount of work was executed between January 2020 and today: floors, plumbing, electricity, doors, painting, carpentry, etc. Due to the restrictions because of COVID-19, the renovations were finished later then planned, but the builders and suppliers have done an excellent job!
In the coming months the fully renovated plantation house will be transformed into a modern museum by the 'museum design team'!
After Mongui Maduro Museum’s reopening, the new museum exhibition will tell the story of four Maduro family members, their roles in Caribbean and Curacao society, together with the narrative behind the unique collection in the Mongui Maduro Library.
We aim to reopen the Museum mid-March 2021.
Further details will follow a.s.a.p. at the website, in the library newsletter, and at our Facebook Mongui Maduro Library & Museum.
Mongui Maduro Library is 100% operational during renovations. Opening hours of the Library remain: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9am to 5pm, and Friday from 9am to 12 noon (12:00).
